D major has two sharps and a bright, open ring, which is why so much violin music, folk and worship is written in it. Its chords are D, Em, F♯m, G, A, Bm and C♯°. B minor is the relative minor and D minor the parallel minor. On guitar D, G, A and Bm are open shapes, and the drop-D tuning gives the key an extra low root.
