A major has three sharps and a bright, ringing quality on the guitar, where A, D and E sit under open strings. Its chords are A, Bm, C♯m, D, E, F♯m and G♯°. F♯ minor is the relative minor, A minor the parallel. Rock and blues players reach for it constantly, and a lot of upbeat pop sits here for the same reason.
